What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a healing modality that goes beyond traditional somatic therapy, teaching us to deeply attune and listen. It is bodywork that involves very light touch.

Craniosacral therapy is a practice of reverential listening. As practitioners we learn to find a deep well of stillness, presence and peace inside ourselves.

We learn to listen without judgment, without a desire to fix or save.

This listening requires us to create a sacred space where our clients can feel deeply safe.

Why is being listened to, with stillness, peace, presence and non-judgment, therapeutic?

When we sit as a practitioner and deeply attune and listen to the stories another's body wants to tell, when we listen, stay safe and stay curious and stay present without judgement, without our ‘saviour’ or ‘fixer’ selves getting in the way, without needing anything from the other. The client’s body experiences an unusually profound place of possibility, the possibility to soften, the possibility to reorient their protective mechanisms, the possibility to experience a new relationship with safety, the possibility to release held and frozen shock from the body, the possibility to unwind fascial tensions and contractions.

Clients often go into very deep places of relaxation and in this deep place they may find themselves building a new relationship with their own bodies, their own experience of their centre, their own experience of their own safety, of their own triggers, of their own sense of where they begin and end.

This experience can have profound effects on all areas of health and wellbeing, helping support stress and anxiety, physical pain, shock, ptsd and many other expressions of ill health.

This cranial sacral therapy practitioner training will be a deep personal journey into heart and land, we will be working with land through an animate lens, feeling into ancient wisdoms, growing roots into the land, connecting to the elementals and growing within us a new individual capacity for reverence and devotion.

Animacy is the animate expression of the universe through wave patterns, the great expansion and contraction through the universe. We find this rhythmic expansion and contraction mirrored in the oceans and in every cell and organism.”

An immersive 2 year craniosacral therapy practitioner training following the Celtic Wheel of the Year.

This course will be a training that thoroughly teaches;

It is our passion provide a training that fully supports you to develop yourself as a confident craniosacral practitioner. We have designed the pace of this training to enable you to organically grow your perceptual and listening skills. We draw on many  modalities including eco-therapy with an animist lens and trauma informed therapeutic practice.

The study of craniosacral therapy will be supported with different practices to bring us deeper into relationship with the body and the web of eco-systems our bodies are interwoven with, seen and unseen. These practices will include: Somatic movement, meditations and visualisations, nature immersion, animism, ritual, reverence and devotion.

This training will immerse us in a study of anatomy that will be experiential and holistic as well as practical. We will also have separate zoom calls to give time to anatomy study.

“There is a rhythm to creation and we need to re-calibrate ourselves to that Rhythm”

  • Celtic Wheel of the Year

Over the 8 festivals of the Celtic Wheel of the Year we will travel together re-orienting our own rhythms to the rhythms of the earth and the seasons. “Because all life is connected and our first attachment is to the land” - Susan Raffo, ‘Liberated To The Bone’

  • Creating a Safe Sacred Space

Our priority will be to create a safe sacred space within which we can deepen our listening and perceptual skills, we will explore our own authentic movement within our own tissues. Reconnect with our fluid bodies and discover that through deep stillness, deep listening, deep presence, we can attune to and sense the stories and rhythms held in the bodies of our fellow humans and the lands that we live on.

Introducing our Course Facilitators for Loving the Bones of Us

  • Samantha Lowi

I love the way Cranio-Sacral Therapy honours the whole of a person’s system, the complex interweaving of body, mind, spirit and energy.

I am so passionate about this work and how it brings us into a powerful heart alignment with ourselves as practitioners, our clients, and for me, with the natural and cosmic world we are all woven into.

My journey with Craniosacral Therapy began when I was sixteen and going through something of an existential crisis. I didn’t want to talk much, but I found a therapist whose gentle presence gave me a space to simply lie down, rest and be.

My background in contemporary dance continues to shape my practice, and I am deeply interested in spontaneous creation through awareness: what can emerge when we slow down enough to listen. My work is rooted in safety, deep listening and relationship, exploring how we meet one another through touch, stillness and movement.

Course Structure

There will be seven in person four-day immersions each year. These will take place around the festivals that for so long have marked the changing of the seasons and the shifting of the earth’s energies. Every module will involve several practical hands-on sessions, interspersed with experiential anatomy, authentic movement, nature immersion, meditation and somatic practices. This course runs over 56 days across 2 years, with a compulsory anatomy class on Zoom between each module, plus additional teaching clinic hours.

  • "Sam is an amazing teacher and craniosacral therapist. She holds the space for learning with the same gentleness, love and presence that she brings to her treatments. Her warmth shines through everything she does, including how she supports her teaching team. Each weekend of learning felt like one long craniosacral treatment, deeply nourishing, held and transformative. I’m so grateful for the experience and everything Sam shared."

    Benjamin Wallace

  • "Sam has a wonderful way of combining her depth of knowledge and experience with a warm, intuitive and down-to-earth approach to teaching."

    Jane Tomlinson-Wightman

  • "Being taught by Sam and her team was one of the main highlights of the course. Because of them our group was and still is really tight and extremely supportive of one another. And I always look forward to new chances to reconnect and learn together. A truly life changing experience."
